The Day of the Dead in Mexico is an ancestral tradition considered Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.
And to preserve an important tradition, Xcaret each year presents the Festival of Life and Death Traditions, full of aromas, colors and flavors.

From October 30th to November 2nd, this festival shows the culture and rituals of the Mayan world. In addition, one of the 32 states of Mexico is invited to share the culture and traditions. This year the special guest will be the state of Quintana Roo. You will be able to learn more about the commemoration of the Hanal Pixán or “food of the souls”, when the souls of those who are no longer in earthly life receive a special permission to return for a few days and are received by their loved ones with an altar with candles, photographs, flowers and as an offering delicious food from the gastronomy of the Yucatan Peninsula.

In addition to enjoying typical food, there will be different artistic expressions such as theater, music, dance, exhibitions and workshops. This year’s edition will include digital events.
For children, it has a space in the Interactive Hacienda with many activities so that they can have fun while learning about this tradition.

So if you are in the Mexican Caribbean, come celebrate life and remember those who have already left Xcaret.
I leave you the page where you can buy your tickets and review the activities program: www.festivaldevidaymuerte.com
