I love this time of the year, not only because
of all those unique gatherings around -with work colleagues, family and
friends-, but also because it is a great opportunity to put attention of the
road we have traveled, to close cycles and begin to open doors to new
possibilities and get a little bit closer of becoming our true self and doing
everything we want.
With only 7 days to go until the end of this
2021, the outlook is that it has been quite an emotional year due to this
collective uncertainty that has taken us through a roller coaster of emotions.
Well, I would like to invite you to walk with
me through these reflections and questions. There are no right or wrong
answers, but only dishonest ones. So, open your mind and heart, take a piece of
paper and pencil and capture what you want to bring with you from all of this.
Learn from yourself and be grateful.
Who are you after Covid?, what have been the
most important learnings in these times of uncertainty and emotional exhaustion?,
what was your greatest achievement?, what did you manage to do that seemed
impossible?, what would you be grateful for?, what new people did you meet and
what have they brought to you?, what were the happiest moments and in which
ones did you feel your heart was full?, who do you want to thank for of what
you have experienced during this year?, who do you want to thank for what you
have lived during this year? Write short
phrases and write the names down on paper. After reading them, close your eyes
and connect with what you are feeling.
Awareness.
What habits, relationships, attitudes were
present in this 2021 but you are not willing to invite to 2022? This calls you
to start defining your best version of yourself: Who are you, what do you do?
And what is it about that version of you that you are eager to develop? Shape
it, design yourself through acquired learning to build a larger version. On a
part of that paper, try to draw yourself with those new attributes that you
want to integrate in your best version.
Motivation and goals.
Remember that it is not necessary that you have
achieved a lot of goals in this 2021, nor that you are eager to write a huge
list for next year, it is enough that those goals you choose now keep your
motivation and bring you closer to know yourself more, to foster your
self-esteem, creativity and help you gain resilience.
Start by reviewing the resolutions that were
left behind and think about why they were not achieved. What was the most
important decision you made, what decision would you have liked to make but did
not do it out of fear or laziness? Make a list of your bad habits and only
choose to change one, the most important one that by improving
it, there will be a relevant change in your satisfaction and well-being.
And now go to your cell phone app and set a
reminder to help you remember that commitment. It can be a task or a note in
the agenda or an image that motivates you to that action. Remember that
repetition and discipline will help you achieve your goal. Take note of your
focused action plan and design measurable, achievable and realistic goals.
Emotions are your allies, don’t block them.
Your emotions speak through your body. Learn to
identify and express your emotions. This is essential for a healthy
coexistence. Write down those emotions
that you find difficult to express. And seeing them in front of you say:
“Now I look at them, I am sorry for having denied or repressed them. It
was not my intention to do so. Today I
want to reconcile with you because I have decided to acknowledge life, feeling
deeply, because I know that the only proof of knowing that I am alive is:
“by feeling”.
I hope these reflections have been helpful to
you, Happy Holidays and excellent 2022 full of love, abundance and health!
